Do all cases in a litigation portfolio need to settle for me to recover my principal?

Not necessarily. Our originators may maintain an equity interest in the portfolio, which creates a potential ‘buffer’ for investors. The size of the buffer may vary, but generally investors are paid first as cash from settlements comes in and could receive all principal and target interest before all cases in the portfolio come to a conclusion.
