Pantera Capital

The Firm was founded in 2003 as a macro hedge fund by Dan Morehead. Since 2013, the Firm has been singularly focused on investing in digital currencies and blockchain technology. In 2013, Pantera created the first blockchain hedge and venture funds in the United States. The firm now manages $5.6 billion (Dec 2021) in blockchain assets.

Pantera funds provide investors with the full spectrum of exposure to the space, ranging from illiquid venture capital assets (including early stage tokens and multi-stage venture equity) to more liquid assets like bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Pantera has a stellar team of investment professionals, entrepreneurs, operators and blockchain experts. The firm has 47 full-time employees as of September 2021. Key personnel include:

  • Dan Morehead: Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer. He is the founder of Pantera Capital Management, former Co-Founder and CEO of Atriax and former CFO and Head of Macro Trading at Tiger Management.
  • Joey Krug: Co-Chief Investment Officer. He was the founder of the first ICO on Ethereum called Augur; built a POS system enabling Bitcoin payments with sound and Bluetooth; established an AngelList syndicate which is now in the top 15 by backing.
