The Fund offers exposure across multiple investments in legal finance. Increased diversity should reduce individual case or borrower risk relative to investing in a single lawsuit or law firm loan. The Fund is actively seeking to add further diversification through new opportunities.
The Fund allows investors to invest in legal finance deals at a lower initial investment amount compared to investing in multiple individual legal finance offerings through Yieldstreet. Eligible investors must verify they are qualified purchasers.
The Fund’s investments are expected to be structured with credit enhancements including, but not limited to, borrowing bases, recourse to the law firm, personal guarantees from litigators, and insurance policies. This helps ensure that the Fund has several sources of repayment and protection in the event that the underlying litigations are not successful or not as successful as expected.
Through December 31, 2020, Yieldstreet has invested over $300M across approximately 70 legal finance transactions, 61 of which have matured and repaid investors.
